Professional Advisors
Greg Iaccarino, Natalie Winterlee
Intern: Katie Prokuski
Hello! I am Greg Iaccarino and I have aided UW-HOSA with its success, growth and pride since its founding in 2004/05. Combined with my duties as career/internship advisor in the Letters and Science Career Services office here on campus, I strive to ensure that UW-HOSA members bring out their strengths and talents through advising them on UW-HOSA business items and also with their personal and professional goals and aspirations. I also aid UW-HOSA members with grant writing and also regularly write letters of recommendation and serve as references for them. My track record of success is at least 95 percent, in terms of individuals I have advocated for that have gained admission to graduate/professional programs, obtained an internship/job, and secured a scholarship. This is because I always draw on specific/tangible examples of excellent work and/or involvements. I am always happy to meet with UW-HOSA members and aid with executive board and committee meetings/events/programs, so that I can describe as many specific examples as possible about UW-HOSA members’ skills and accomplishments. I am also available to assist UW-HOSA members through any of the challenges that they may encounter as members.
My editing experience of applications has helped UW-HOSA secure the Dean’s Award of Excellence in 2009 and 2011, as well as various ASM grants to fund UW-HOSA programs/events. In addition, I worked in the Department of Bacteriology on campus for 4 years where I helped Microbiology identify the donors that funded the construction of the Microbial Sciences Building, a showcase research and laboratory space utilized by many UW-HOSA members! In 2011, my grant writing abilities aided in the successful funding of 9 new academic advisor/career advisor positions on campus as part of the Madison Initiative for Undergraduates (MIU) initiative.
I hold a Master of Science in Counseling/College Student Personnel Work from Indiana State University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Rowan University in New Jersey. My hobbies and interests include social justice/diversity, architecture, ethnic cuisine, theatre, interior design, cats, baseball, and, of course, science and healthcare!
Hello! My name is Natalie Winterle and I am one of the professional advisors! I graduated from UW in 2009 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Zoology. I was a member of HOSA all four years of undergrad and loved it. I am currently employed full time in the UW Gastrointestinal Oncology Research Department where I enroll patients on clinical trials. I am hoping to become a Physician Assistant and am currently in the admissions process. I hope to be a resource to all UW HOSA members as they apply to grad programs, PA programs, medical schools, jobs, etc!
Hello! I am Katie Prokuski and I am a last semester graduate student at UW Milwaukee. My major is Administrative Leadership with an emphasis in Higher Education Administration. I love reading, going to the movies and spending time with family and friends. A fun fact about me is that I like to throw random Beatles facts into everyday conversation. What I love most about HOSA is the enthusiasm and optimism of those involved. I am really looking forward to this semester! Please feel free to come to me for anything!
