History

H ealthcare Occupations Students of America, the University of Wisconsin Chapter, was first founded by Neha Sehgal in 2004. During this year, tradition was established while our first of many annual “All Campus Healthcare Symposiums” was held with the combined effort of the organization’s 15 Active Members.

In the 2005-2006 school year, the first Executive Board was initiated and six different committees were established. The members and Executive Board worked diligently to define UW-HOSA’s mission, vision, slogan, and goals. Our membership climed to 34 Active Members and the org was awarded Outstanding Contribution to Campus from The Student Organization Office.

The development of the Human Relations Branch and the Public Relations Branch in 2006-2007 helped to oversee the six committees of the organization. This solid foundation helped to secure ASM Operations funding while averaging 15 events per semester and reaching 65+ Active Members.

Ayear of development in 2007-2008 was splattered with the development of the UW-HOSA bylaws, the creation of UW-HOSA Scholarships and Awards as well as the outline for a 5-year Plan. The quantity and quality of events held each semester continued to escalate as did the membership level.
